Manitoba is home to 379 species of birds in 41 families. Such birds include the Great Grey owl; Manitoba's provincial bird and the endangered Peregrine Falcon that can be seen nesting in the city.
The Delta Marsh Bird Observatory, located on the south end of Lake Manitoba, conducts spring and fall bird migration counts and banding. The station boasts to be one of the busiest stations on the continent as it receives over 7000 song birds passing through. The most abundant bird that has been observed is the Yellow Warbler, 1500 get caught and banded every year.
